As winter cold fronts sweep in one after another, many renowned maple-viewing spots have already reached the end of their season, but within Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area, autumn maple foliage is at its most vibrant.

Situated in Taichung, Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area is considered by many netizens as an exceptional hidden spot to appreciate the wonders of nature. The beautiful sunsets viewed from Anma Villa offer a unique experience each time you visit; the Jiantui Mountain Forest Trail takes you along the ridge, where you can gaze afar at the mist-covered mountain peaks. Entwined with the sea of clouds are the red leaves, which have donned their brilliant new red attire. Along Daxueshan Forest Road, scattered red maples dot the lush green mountain scenery. The maple views at the toll station at the 35-kilometer mark and the visitor center at the 43-kilometer mark greet visitors with their stunningly gorgeous presence. Ascending the peaks, above the sea of clouds, not only do the orange-red hues of the sunset shine through, but the vivid reds of the maple leaves also soar into the sky. Their solitary and proud figures stand quietly in this desolate place — how can such a marvelous sight be missed?

In the cold winter days, autumn seems reluctant to leave. Until the end of December, hold on to this last blush of crimson and head to the forests of Daxueshan to admire the vibrant kaleidoscope of colors.
