Unhappy with overly commercial operations, Hoffman's Facebook makes no mention of Keelung's Little Yellow Duck

This time, Keelung’s yellow duck really got under Hoffman’s skin. Not only did he refuse to attend the opening ceremony, but he also criticized Fan Keqin’s money-making methods as ugly and cheap. Moreover, Hoffman didn’t share any photos or updates about Keelung’s little duck on his Facebook at all. The posts he shared on his Facebook on the 18th and 20th were both photos of the yellow duck in Osaka, Japan.

Remember when the yellow duck was exhibited in Kaohsiung Harbor? Hoffman specially went to visit Glory Pier ahead of time and attended the opening ceremony on September 19, where he held the duck-launching ceremony together with Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu. After the opening, Hoffman shared multiple photos of the Kaohsiung duck on his Facebook, and even changed his Facebook cover photo on September 25 to an aerial view of the duck floating at Glory Pier — a photo that remains unchanged to this day, showing how much he valued and was satisfied with the Kaohsiung exhibition.

Later, when the duck moved to Taoyuan County, although the initial three-line duck design didn’t satisfy most people, Hoffman still defended the Taoyuan County Government, saying he really liked how the duck blended with Taoyuan’s local scenery. Despite issues during the exhibition such as ducks bursting and the supporting highland duck deflating, Hoffman still shared photos of the Taoyuan duck and aerial footage of it on his Facebook.

But this time, before the Keelung little duck launched, there were reports that Hoffman opposed the 360-degree duck design. Then he publicly clashed with Fan Keqin, criticizing Fan’s money-making methods as ugly and cheap. The organizers and main bodies, in an attempt to distance themselves from Fan Keqin, not only “asked Fan to leave” proactively before the launch, but also held a press conference afterward to support Hoffman. However, Hoffman’s anger seems far from subsided — it’s been four days since the Keelung yellow duck launched, yet there’s still no related post on his Facebook. The latest post is a photo of the yellow duck in Osaka, Japan.
