Enjoy the scenery and great music in under 15 hours – A three-part event makes Tainan’s New Year’s Eve lively

To welcome 2014 and bid farewell to 2013, Tainan is holding the “2014 Tainan FUN Happiness” New Year’s Eve three-part event, inviting the public to bid farewell to the sunset and greet the sunrise within 15 hours, while also enjoying great music. The activities include bidding farewell to the sunset at Beimen Salt Fields at 4:30 p.m. on December 31, a New Year’s Eve concert featuring artists such as Weng Liyou, Guo Zigan, and Xu Zhan yuan in the evening, and a sunrise welcoming event at Erliau.

The Beimen Salt Fields in Tainan recently won third place globally in the “2013 World-Class Views: The Beauty Seen by Travelers” photography competition through the lens of photographer Frances. The government has specially chosen the Beimen Salt Fields to bid farewell to the last sunset of the year.

The New Year’s Eve concert will be held at the square in front of the Tainan HSR Station, featuring Golden Melody Award-winning singer Weng Liyou, sports commentator Xu Zhanyuan making his hosting debut, along with Guo Zigan, Sodagreen, and Ding Dang, among other artists. The concert will run from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m.

The third part of the event is the “Erliau New Year’s Day Sunrise,” which will take place from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. at Erliau to welcome the sunrise over the sea of clouds. There will also be performances including Xilaya indigenous culture, symphony music, and soprano singing, all joining together to welcome the new year.
