Jody Chiang (also known as Second Sister) recently went to the recording studio to adapt her hit song “Child” (〈囝仔〉) into “Yuan Zai” (〈圆仔〉), recording it as a Christmas gift for the giant panda cub “Yuan Zai.” At the invitation of Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-pin, Second Sister also made a surprise appearance as a special guest to meet “Yuan Zai.”

The Taipei City Government stated that Second Sister, who has always loved animals, has been very concerned about Yuan Zai’s growth since her birth. She not only shared photos of Yuan Zai and her mother Yuan Yuan on her Facebook page but also used the lyric “Everyone says your eyes look just like mine” from her song to describe the panda’s black eye patches — truly a family resemblance. Her adorable description received an enthusiastic response across Taiwan. Second Sister will also call on children and adults alike to care about the conservation of giant pandas and other animals.

Jody Chiang also specifically urged everyone: Yuan Zai is still a baby and sleeps up to twenty hours a day. So when visiting the zoo, if you happen to see Yuan Zai sleeping, please do not tap on the glass or use flash photography to avoid disturbing Yuan Yuan and Yuan Zai.
