The 8 millionth visitor to Taiwan receives a colorful celebration: "I will widely promote Taiwan's tourism"

On January 2, the 8 millionth visitor to Taiwan in 2013, Ms. OMOTE AYA, and her husband received commemorative gifts from Taiwan. These included gifts with Taiwanese significance presented by Premier Jiang Yi-huah, Minister of Transportation and Communications Yeh Kuang-shih, and Tourism Bureau Director-General Janice Lai. The aviation and hotel industries also gifted business class tickets and accommodation vouchers, while the bridal association presented wedding photography packages.

In his speech, Premier Jiang Yi-huah mentioned that Taiwan's tourism has been highly praised by international media. For example, CNN recommended Guanshan as one of the world’s 12 best places to watch the sunset; the UK’s Metro newspaper reported on Taiwan’s well-planned cycling tourism routes; and Japan’s largest travel website “4Travel” voted Taiwan as the most suitable country for Japanese people to travel solo overseas. The goal is to reach 9 million visitors in the future.

After receiving the award, Ms. OMOTE expressed that this unexpected surprise moved her deeply and that she was very grateful. She also said that choosing Taiwan for her honeymoon was the right decision and an unforgettable experience.

After arriving in Taiwan on December 31, Ms. OMOTE attended the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve celebration and subsequently planned visits to Ximending, Longshan Temple, Din Tai Fung, as well as trips to Jiufen and Tamsui. After returning home, she will widely share her wonderful experiences in Taiwan and encourage friends and family to visit the country.
