Lush green hills blanketed in snow-white fluff — seize the “golden time” to admire plum blossoms

Nantou County’s Xinyi Township is known as Taiwan’s plum capital. Starting from January, it enters the peak blooming season of plum blossoms. The three major plum viewing areas—Niuchoukeng, Fenguitou, and Wusong]—have all burst into full bloom. Over 80% of the white plum blossoms carpet the green landscape in dazzling white,creating a breathtaking sight.

Blue skies, white clouds, and snow-white plum blossoms set against verdant rolling hills define the impression of Xinyi Township’s plum parks. At the Wusong] viewing area, visitors can even gaze at the distant river scenery. A popular blogger described it this way: “Admiring plum blossoms is such an elegant experience—this is Taiwan’s most authentic aesthetic delight. Sit on the grass, watch the petals fall like snow, and bask in the fierce sunshine you won’t find in Taipei. It’s a rare moment of leisure these days.” The best time to enjoy the plum blossoms is from mid-December to the end of February. However, since fruit-bearing plum trees only bloom for about a month, the current peak is estimated to last until the end of January. Those planning to see the blossoms should seize this golden period.
