More popular than Taipei 101 — where mainland Chinese tourists are heading now

Mainland China is the largest source of inbound tourists to Taiwan. Aside from visiting Taipei 101 and trying xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), where are mainland tourists flocking to the most? According to the latest statistics from a major Chinese consumer review platform, three night markets rank among the top 10 most popular tourist attractions for mainland visitors to Taiwan, with Ningxia Night Market topping the list, even surpassing Taipei 101 in popularity.

The Chinese Dianping app released big data on Taiwanese tourism for March 2017. The most popular attraction was Ningxia Night Market, followed by Taipei 101, the National Palace Museum, Raohe Street Tourist Night Market, Shilin Night Market, Ximending Red House, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and the newly ranked Yongkang Street.

In addition, Taiwanese cuisine has won over the taste buds of domestic and international tourists. Aside from enjoying xiaolongbao and beef noodle soup, the top 10 most highly rated food establishments among mainland Chinese tourists are Tiger Sugar, Shangyin Aquatic Products, Ma La Top Spicy Hotpot, Lin Dongfang Beef Noodles, Din Tai Fung, Ah Zong Rice Noodle, Shin Yeh Taiwanese Cuisine, Fu Hang Soy Milk, Yongkang Beef Noodles, and Microhot Hills.
