Nantou isn’t just about Qingjing Farm — waterfall enthusiasts should also check out the “Guanyin Waterfall” on the same route.Just a 5-minute walk will take you to the first waterfall, and among the more than 10 waterfalls, there’s one as tall as 60 meters. The rushing silver-white cascade is truly majestic, offering excellent value without demanding a tough hike, which explains its popularity with travelers.

Guanyin Waterfall is located on the foothills beside Provincial Highway 14 (Puyu Highway) on the way from Puli to Wushe. A 5-minute walk from the parking lot will bring you to the first waterfall. Following the gentle trail uphill, you’ll see butterflies fluttering around, and encounter over 10 large and small waterfalls along the wooded path. Strolling through this vibrant nature, breathing in rich phytoncides, is both refreshing and uplifting.

After around a 20-minute walk, you’ll be greeted by the most magnificent third-tier waterfall, with a drop of about 60 meters — approximately 20 stories high when calculated at 3 meters per floor. Standing beneath the waterfall, you’ll be completely awestruck by its powerful presence. The mist sprayed by the falls, refracted through sunlight, creates a rainbow on the water’s surface, giving off a fairytale-like beauty as if a hidden paradise has suddenly appeared before your eyes.

On the way back, you’ll pass by Guanyin Suspension Bridge, where vendors on the opposite bank sell sweet potatoes and hot spring eggs — you can even cook them yourself, adding a fun touch to the trip.A special reminder: The Guanyin Waterfall trail was severely damaged during the 921 Earthquake. Along the path, you’ll see collapsed bridges and many rocky cliffs, so be cautious of falling rocks while hiking.
