Tired of long queues at airport immigration? In addition to fast-track clearance, Dubai International Airport recently launched a “mobile passport control” service that allows travelers to use their smartphones instead of passports and boarding passes. By showing a mobile barcode and completing a fingerprint scan, passengers can clear immigration in about 10 seconds.
In April this year, Dubai International Airport handled nearly 7.6 million passengers, marking an almost 10% increase in passenger traffic compared to the same period last year, with nearly half of them being citizens of the United Arab Emirates. To enhance airport efficiency, Dubai International Airport has introduced the “UAE Smart Wallet” app, expanding the features of fast-track services.
Recognized as a world first, this clearance service not only allows travelers to pass through immigration using a barcode from a mobile app, but also automatically links national ID numbers, seat assignments, flight numbers, and other travel information. It is currently available at Terminal 3 of Dubai Airport and will be gradually expanded to all terminals.
