Waterfalls, mazes, slides—Changi Airport creates a fantastical starry sky garden

Singapore’s Changi Airport has been ranked the world’s most beautiful airport multiple times, featuring installation art and green landscapes throughout, as well as amenities like a 24-hour cinema, rooftop swimming pool, and butterfly garden, offering travelers an exceptional experience beyond flying or transiting. Now, the airport’s landscape is being further upgraded with “Jewel Changi,” set to officially open in 2019, which will include a massive bounce net, slides, a hedge maze, and a fantastical indoor garden.

“Jewel Changi” will open to the public in 2019, transforming layovers from dull waits into extraordinary experiences. At the heart of Jewel Changi is a 40-meter-tall waterfall integrated with a light show, while the five-story Shiseido Forest Valley houses various recreational and leisure facilities, including a giant hedge maze, the 3-story-tall “Canopy Park,” walking nets, and large slides.

In the “Canopy Park,” visitors can experience the thrill of high-altitude bouncing, while the lawn of the forest valley occasionally features floating “artificial clouds,” creating a mystical sensation of walking on air. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, they can enjoy the surrounding scenery—the forest valley is home to over 1,400 plants, with surprises and beauty at every turn.
