Taiwanese-Style Dry Noodles and Mango Shaved Ice Debut at Hanshin Koshien’s “Taiwan Day”

Tigerair Taiwan to Host Taiwan Day Event

Taiwan has recently been voted as Japan’s favorite gourmet destination, and now Taiwanese cuisine will be available at the Hanshin Koshien Stadium. On the upcoming two days—tomorrow (the 14th) and the day after tomorrow (the 15th)—during the Hanshin Tigers vs. Seibu Lions series, Hanshin Koshien will specially host “Taiwan Day (台湾デー)” to sell representative Taiwanese foods such as dry noodles, bubble tea with tapioca shaved ice, and mango shaved ice, allowing fans to enjoy delicious Taiwanese flavors while watching the game. 

Hanshin Koshien Stadium is a mecca for baseball in Japan’s Kansai region and the ultimate symbol of Japanese baseball culture for passionate fans. Hanshin Koshien, in collaboration with Tigerair Taiwan and the Osaka Office of the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, will hold “Taiwan Day” during the Hanshin Tigers vs. Seibu Lions series. Tomorrow’s game will feature an opening pitch by Kuo Lee-Chien-Fu, former Hanshin Tigers player and current head coach of the Chinese Taipei training team, while the following day’s game will have an opening pitch by Chang Hung-Chung, Chairman of Tigerair Taiwan.

At the “Taiwan Day” event, representative Taiwanese delicacies including dry noodles, bubble tea with tapioca shaved ice, and mango shaved ice will be available for fans to choose from. There will also be a popular Japanese lottery draw called “Gara-Pon,” where participants spin a handle to release differently colored balls that determine the type of prize they receive—ensuring everyone wins something. 

To celebrate the “Taiwan Day” event, the Koshien History Museum will host a jersey photo session for fans from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Japan time on both days. Jerseys worn by Taiwanese players who have played for the Hanshin Tigers—including Lin Wei-Chu, Cheng Kai-Wen, and Hsiao I-Chieh—along with jerseys of current Japanese players like Toshiro Tani and Tomohisa Nozawa, will be available. Additionally, 12 jersey sets used by various teams from Japan’s 2016 Nippon Professional Baseball league will be offered, allowing fans to choose their favorite team or player’s jersey for photos.

Baseball fans can not only attend the games in person but also catch the live broadcasts on the ELEVEN SPORTS channel at 4:55 PM Taiwan time on both days, to experience the excitement of the Koshien Stadium games and the charm of the “Taiwan Day” festivities.
