Located in Roermond, the Netherlands, Het Arresthuis was originally a prison built in 1863. After being transformed into a hotel, the level of “comfort” has significantly improved. Although all the facilities have been renovated—with chandeliers and lounge chairs installed—the operators have preserved the prison’s authentic features, including the iron windows, iron grilles, and staircases that date back to its days as a prison.
