A stunning new island, "Shelly Island," has emerged off the coast of North Carolina, USA!

A new island, stretching about one mile (approximately 1.6 kilometers) long and over 400 feet (about 122 meters) wide, has recently appeared off the coast of North Carolina, USA, quickly becoming a new tourism highlight in the vacation hotspot of the Outer Banks.

According to reports from the UK's Daily Mail and the US Huffington Post, since April this year, a small sandbank along the North Carolina coast has gradually transformed into what can be considered an island. The shoreline is covered with shells, and locals have named it "Shelly Island."

However, visitors should be cautious when exploring the island. The US Coast Guard warns that people should not attempt to walk to Shelly Island or swim near it, as the area is often frequented by anglers and the beach may be littered with discarded fishing hooks. Bill Smith, president of the North Carolina Off-Road ATV Association, said that sharks and stingrays (also known as devil rays) are often found in the shallow waters.

Reports indicate that "Shelly Island" was formed over time by strong ocean currents and winds. Experts say that due to the unpredictable nature of the climate, the shape of the island is constantly changing— it might disappear next year, or it could expand and potentially connect to the nearby mainland.
