Foodies can't miss these 7 Thai dishes ranked among the world's 50 most popular foods!

When summer heat saps your appetite, spicy and sour Thai dishes come to the rescue. CNN Travel’s latest “World’s 50 Best Foods” list—voted on by readers—shows Thai food is neck and neck with American cuisine in popularity. Seven Thai dishes made the cut, with Tom Yum Goong (Thai sour and spicy soup), ranked 4th, being the most beloved. Food lovers who adore Thai cuisine simply can’t miss out.

Thai food has captured global palates, frequently landing in the international spotlight. CNN Travel’s updated World’s 50 Best Foods list, released last month, was voted on by 35,000 readers through its Facebook page. Seven Thai dishes were featured, including: Tom Yum Goong at No. 4, Som Tum (green papaya salad) at No. 6, Massaman Curry at No. 10, Green Curry at No. 19, Chicken Fried Rice at No. 24, and Larb Moo (spicy pork salad) at No. 36.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand said that “the allure and surprises of Thai flavors” inspire travelers and foodies to embark on culinary journeys across Thailand, sampling signature dishes at renowned restaurants and exploring Thai style through food—all showcasing how Thai cuisine has become a world-class gastronomic experience.

In addition, to promote Thai culinary culture, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has collaborated with Michelin Travel Partners to publish the “Bangkok Michelin Guide” and with France’s Gault & Millau to produce a bilingual “Gault & Millau Thailand Guide 2018.” The authority also plans to host the UNWTO Gastronomy Tourism Conference in Thailand in May 2018, offering global foodies deeper insights into the mysteries of Thai cuisine.
