Not just GD involved — Jeju Island theme park to feature 7 major movie themes including 'The Hunger Games'

The global trend of movie-themed amusement parks continues — Japan’s Universal Studios has 'Harry Potter', America’s Disney has 'Avatar', and now Korea’s new Jeju Shinhwa World attraction on Jeju Island is set to open in phases after the end of September this year. In addition to securing G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) as its spokesperson and having him design parts of the park, the next phase will include an outdoor theme park based on seven globally popular movies such as 'The Hunger Games' and 'Twilight', successfully generating buzz ahead of the launch of Jeju Island’s first international resort-level theme park.

Jeju Shinhwa World on Jeju Island claims to be creating an international-level theme park. Recently, it enlisted Korean star G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) as its ambassador, incorporating K-pop entertainment elements into the park with the creation of 'YG TOWN'. Designed by G-Dragon himself, the area will offer a resort park atmosphere featuring Korean celebrities, fashion, music, bowling, bars, trendy shopping, and dining. It is expected to open in October and is likely to attract K-pop fans from around the world.

Furthermore, the park management recently announced that it will collaborate with U.S.-based Lionsgate Films to create a theme park based on seven classic films: 'Twilight', 'The Hunger Games', 'Saw', 'Divergent', 'Haunted Mansion', 'Now You See Me', and the upcoming 2020 release 'Robin Hood'. Covering an area of over 120,000 square meters, the park will not only feature themed rides and restaurants but also recreate iconic film scenes using 4D technology. It is scheduled to debut in 2019.
