How many people can directly point out where Abu Dhabi is on a map? When mentioning Abu Dhabi, it’s inevitable to compare it with the more famous Dubai. The two cities are about a 1.5-hour drive apart and both border the Persian Gulf. International airlines often refer to the region as the Middle East, but in recent years, Abu Dhabi tourism operators have started advocating for the term “Arabian Peninsula” instead of “Middle East” in their promotional slogans, urging people not to only think of the Middle East.

According to a survey by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority last year, 62% of respondents believed that the term “Arabian Peninsula” was more “inspirational,” while another 34% felt that the terminology didn’t matter. Although Abu Dhabi is not as well-known as Dubai, as early as in the American movie *Sex and the City 2*, it was boldly stated that “the Dubai era is over, and Abu Dhabi is the future.”

However, the 2017 Global City Safety Index published by the international database website Numbeo showed that Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, firmly ranked first, with Taipei ranking third globally, just after Germany, and Tokyo, known for its excellent security, ranking 16th.

World theme park are set to open soon, along with ultra-luxurious eight-star hotels built with 24K gold, challenging global standards of luxury.

To welcome the tourism high season from November to April, the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority also came to Taiwan this week to attract visitors. The official recommended 10 must-visit attractions include: Ferrari World Theme Park, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island (a multi-purpose entertainment island), Yas Marina Circuit, Al Ain (known as the Garden City), the Corniche Beach, Emirates Heritage Village, and Emirates Palace Hotel.
