Visiting Macau this month means excitement and indulgence all in one trip. The city’s premier international event, the Macau Grand Prix, is set to thrill in November as downtown streets transform into the Guia Circuit. Watch race cars roar down the track with engines revving loud and fast. Right after the races, the Macau Food Festival opens, guaranteeing a treat for speed enthusiasts and foodies alike.

Now in its 64th year, the annual Macau Grand Prix will take place from November 16 to 19, making it Macau’s largest international sporting event. The Grand Prix features thrilling racing categories including motorcycles, touring cars, and Formula 3, with competitors speeding around the Guia Circuit formed by Macau’s urban streets.

Renowned for its sharp turns and narrow layout, the 6.2-kilometer-long Guia Circuit has earned the nickname “Oriental Monaco” due to its similarity to Monaco’s street circuit in terms of tight corners and elevation changes. It’s also the only street circuit in the world to host multiple major events, including the FIA WTCC World Touring Car Championship, the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, and the Macau GT Cup, drawing tens of thousands of spectators each year.

Among these, the Reservoir Bend and Hairpin Curve are the most challenging turns, recognized as among the most technically demanding for drivers worldwide. The event offers three official grandstands: the “Main Grandstand” at the start/finish line, the “Reservoir Grandstand,” and the “Banco Grandstand” near the Hairpin Curve. The Main Grandstand, located at the heart of the action around the start/finish line, delivers the most electric atmosphere. Mid-event performances and appearances by drivers and grid girls are also concentrated here—making it the prime spot to catch the action up close.

With race cars zooming by, engines roaring, and colorful banners fluttering in the wind, the true thrill of speed can only be fully experienced live in Macau. The Macao Special Administrative Region Government Tourism Office has partnered with nine Taiwanese travel agencies (G-Di Travel, Bestway Travel, Wing Yip (Apple) Travel Agency, EasyGo, Lion Travel, Five Star Travel, Canxing Travel, Southeast Travel, and Hi Hon Holiday) to launch Macau Grand Prix self-drive tour packages, including complimentary A-zone tickets to the Final Day Main Grandstand. Additionally, from September 25, visitors to the event’s webpage who share the racing challenge video by Huang Youjie have a chance to win amazing prizes, including a free trip to Macau to watch the races.

And that’s not all—Macau’s end-of-year calendar is packed with more exciting events. The 20th Lusofonia Festival takes place from October 20 to 22, offering a vibrant taste of Portuguese culture. Following the international racing spectacle, the Macau Food Festival runs from November 20 to 26, treating visitors to iconic local flavors. December brings even more highlights: the Macau International Marathon, the Macau Light Festival, the Macau International Film Festival and Awards, and the Macau Latin City Fantasy Parade. With back-to-back events, there’s no shortage of thrilling experiences ahead.
