With Taiwan experiencing consecutive days of cold weather, many are longing for sunny days. Besides trying out challenges like flying a small plane, skydiving, and diving, what other fun activities are there for seasoned travelers in Guam? The Guam Visitors Bureau recommends a unique local tour that only insiders know about.
The Guam Visitors Bureau points out that the Boonie Stomps (wilderness exploration tours) are definitely worth trying. These events, led by volunteers from non-profit organizations, take place every Saturday morning and offer wilderness adventure tours to beaches, snorkeling spots, waterfalls, mountains, caves, latte stone sites, and World War II relics.
[December Itinerary Introduction]
December 9: Natural Water Park
Located in the southern part of Guam, this hidden aquatic gem allows you to swim, swing on a rope swing over the water, dive, slide down natural water slides, and relax in natural hot tubs at Tarzan Swim Hole. Due to the steep uphill sections, please be cautious of slippery slopes and muddy paths. This activity is of medium difficulty, with an estimated hiking time of 3 hours and a distance of about 3.2 kilometers.
December 16: Cave Exploration
Talofofo Caves feature a variety of geological landscapes including rocks, tunnels, mountaintops, caves, and channels. Hikers can also view ancient Chamorro rock paintings. As the cave has low lighting, bring a flashlight and be cautious of reptiles inside. This activity is of medium difficulty, with an estimated hiking time of 3 hours and a distance of about 1.6 kilometers.
December 23: Waterfall Adventure
Discover three hidden waterfalls in the heart of Guam’s city center. At Tarzan Falls, hikers can enjoy cool, refreshing waters and relax amidst picturesque, waterfall-filled scenery. Though the hike is of medium difficulty, watch out for muddy paths, uneven terrain, and slippery rocks. The hike takes about 3 hours and covers approximately 3.2 kilometers.
December 30: Twin Bays Tour
Follow a steep path to Cetti River, pass upstream at Cetti Falls, then head downstream along the coastline to Sella Bay, and finally return to the starting point on the mountainside to complete the loop. Due to sections that require wading, steep descents, and long hiking routes, wear water-resistant hiking boots and bring goggles. This hike is more challenging, lasting about 4 hours and covering around 6.4 kilometers.
