As the year draws to a close and Christmas approaches, streets and markets around the world are filled with festive cheer, celebrating the joyous holiday. The Middle Eastern airline also jumped on the festive bandwagon, using the test flight of a new aircraft to create a four-hour flight path that literally “drew” a Christmas tree in the skies over Germany, successfully capturing global attention.

Middle Eastern airline Emirates recently conducted a test flight of its new A380 aircraft, registered as F-WWAE. It took off from Hamburg’s Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) in Germany, circled southern Germany, and returned to its original departure airport, using its flight trajectory to draw a Christmas tree in the sky.

The flight took place from just after noon until 4 p.m., and the Christmas tree was even carefully “drawn” with decorative lights, prompting netizens to exclaim, “So cute!” and “What a creative use of a plane.” Some even joked that the test flight was to see if Santa Claus was ready.

In addition, the Swedish Armed Forces carried out a fighter jet training exercise yesterday, flying in a formation that spelled out a Christmas tree over the capital, causing a stir locally and earning the nickname “the world's most expensive Christmas tree” from netizens.
