A Whirlwind Visit to Sanxing Township in Yilan: A Two-Story Wooden Horse Challenges Guinness World Records

Aside from its beautiful mountains and waters, Sanxing Township in Yilan now has a new highlight. A bright yellow wooden horse standing two stories tall has been erected in front of the Sanxing CPC gas station on Provincial Highway 7C, towering amidst stunning floral landscapes, charming enough to make passersby stop their cars to admire it.

This giant yellow wooden horse was commissioned by Sanxing Township Office in Yilan and crafted by woodworker Ho Wen-bin. Ho explained that this entirely handcrafted horse, measuring 8.3 meters long, 3.1 meters wide, and 6.5 meters high, took him and three other craftsmen four months to create. It stands 40 centimeters taller than the current Guinness World Record-holding wooden horse in Israel and is ten times the size of an average small wooden horse. In addition to being displayed in the flower fields, it is also being prepared to challenge world records in the future.

After gathering naming suggestions from the public, the name “Rocking Rocking Horse” was selected from 10 candidate names as the official name for this bright yellow wooden horse. During the exhibition period, the surrounding scenic gardens will be planted with red, white, and pink begonias, as well as daisies and anthuriums, creating a vibrant sea of flowers. Two 6-foot-tall oversized archways and signage art shaped like silver willow will also be set up. To celebrate the Lunar New Year, lanterns will be hung along the route. Small wooden horses will also be available for children to ride. The exhibit will be open to visitors from now until March 2.
