As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism reminds the public that as some cinema operators have adjusted their business hours for the Spring Festival, those planning to watch movies during the break are advised to check the operating status of each cinema in advance on the Taipei Tourism website to avoid disappointment.

The Department of Information and Tourism stated that according to the latest information provided by 36 cinemas in Taipei, most will maintain normal business hours starting from the first day of the Lunar New Year, with only adjustments made on New Year’s Eve.On New Year’s Eve, aside from nine cinemas that will remain open as usual, a small number of others will be closed all day, while the remaining ones will close for a few hours during the family reunion dinner time..

In addition, the Department pointed out that four cinemas in the city raised their ticket prices by NT$10 startingfrom January 17, 2014, and another five will increase ticket prices by NT$10 starting from New Year’s Eve.The public can also use theTaipei Tourism websiteto look up the details.
