Millions of pink lotus flowers float across the entire lake – enjoy being surrounded by blossoms in Thailand’s Udon Thani

For Thailand, what keeps drawing people back time and again are mainly the street snacks. But did you know?Every winter, Udon Thani Province in Thailand has a three-month lotus season, attracting travelers from around the globe to witness the breathtaking “sea of lotuses.”.

According to the Daily Telegraph, every December marks the blooming season of red lotuses. Nong Han Kumphawapi Lake in northeastern Thailand gets crowded with visitors every year who come to admire the sea of flowers made up of millions of lotuses. The flower sea spans approximately 15 kilometers in length and 5 kilometers in width. Travelers should pay special attention to the blooming hours, which are generally around 6 a.m. to noon. You can hire a boat to go out to the middle of the lake and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by flowers, fish, and water.

Besides the lotuses, this area also features archaeological heritage sites listed by UNESCO, preserving civilizations dating back 5,000 years to the Bronze Age. To get to Udon Thani Province, travelers can take a bus, train, or flight from Bangkok.
