Hollywood Bowl  Playboy Jazz Festival Kicks Off the Season

Located in Los Angeles,the Hollywood Bowlopens only during the summer each year. On February 5, this year’s lineup was announced. The music season kicks off on June 14 with the 36th annual “Playboy Jazz Festival,” followed by Independence Day fireworks, performances by singer Janelle Monáe, the Nordic band Röyksopp, and more live shows — ensuring music lovers enjoy a nightly feast of entertainment over the 120 days of summer.

Built in 1922, the Hollywood Bowl is primarily a venue for music and opera performances. Nestled in a valley with the stage at the bottom, it resembles a giant bowl when viewed from above — hence the name “Hollywood Bowl.” In addition to enjoying music, many visitors come for the shaded natural surroundings and enjoy picnicking on-site. To accommodate this, the organizers have set up dedicated picnic areas, which open four hours before each show and include tables for convenience.

Its unique design and stunning setting have attracted numerous celebrities over the years, including former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, actors Mickey Rooney, and Edward G. Robinson. If you get the chance to visit, keep an eye out around you — you might just spot a star nearby.
