Taiwanese people's favorite honeymoon destinations: Maldives, Greece, and Italy

A well-known travel booking website recently conducted a customer poll to rank the world’s top honeymoon destinations. The Maldives topped the list with over 20% of the vote, becoming the world’s most dreamed-of honeymoon destination. Meanwhile, the top three honeymoon spots favored by Taiwanese travelers are the Maldives, the Greek Islands, and Italy.

The “Top Dream Honeymoon Destination” survey asked customers to choose their ideal honeymoon spot from a list of 20 travel destinations. Among the more than 15,000 respondents, as many as 20% favored the Maldives, known as the “honeymoon paradise.” Right behind were the Greek Islands, Paris, and others. Although the vote percentages were relatively close, they were still nearly 13% lower than the Maldives.

The top honeymoon destination showed considerable consensus among travelers from North America, Europe, and Asia, with the Maldives coming out on top. However, the second-place choices began to reveal different honeymoon preferences across regions. Asian travelers voted for “the synonym of romance”—Paris; European travelers favored ; and North American travelers also did not choose the tropical beaches of the South Pacific.

A further breakdown of Taiwanese travelers’ choices shows that Taiwan’s top two honeymoon destinations match the global rankings—the Maldives remains the top choice, favored by 19.5% of Taiwanese travelers, followed by the Greek Islands. However, the third choice diverges from other Asian travelers, with Italians being selected. Paris was ranked by Taiwanese after Hawaii, tying with Tahiti for fifth place. Places ranked seventh to tenth were , , , and . It is interesting to note that the most popular European destinations among Taiwanese differ from those favored by other Europeans.
