Get creative and beautiful by the riverside — spinning 3D colorful windmills bring joyful vibes

The riverside parks and bike paths in Taipei City are popular spots for many people to take a stroll, exercise, or go on outings during weekends. To make the riversides even more beautiful, from October 15 to December 15, 2012, the Water Resources Bureau of Taipei City’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems collected a total of 101 riverside beautification artworks, and selected four unique pieces from 30 prize-winning entries to be installed on the embankment walls of various riverside parks. Recently, a new scenic view has been added to the embankment wall near the Shizi Elementary School river-crossing pedestrian bridge that has just been completed.

This award-winning artworkis located at the entrance of the alley on Section 6, Yanping North Road, and features a bicycle theme, using bright and warm colors that echo the joyful mood of cyclists riding along the riverside bike paths.

The Water Resources Bureau stated that to faithfully reproduce the contestants’ artworks, in addition to using brightly colored mosaic materials, they specially used red, orange, yellow, and blue ceramic panels to highlight the colors of the windmills in the artwork. It is worth mentioning thatthe windmills are made of stainless steel and will spin with the wind, creating an effect where the turning of the windmills lifts everyone’s spirits,allowing passersby and cyclists to feel the joy of riding a bike in the breeze. It is expected to become a new scenic highlight in the area.
