Low-cost carriers make another move? Vanilla Air to announce new fares at 10:00 on February 18

Vanilla Air, which officially started selling flight tickets in Taiwan on December 4, 2013, and commenced flights on December 20, once offered a special deal of NT$388 for a one-way ticket from Taipei to Tokyo and NT$1,888 for a round-trip fare including taxes. This created a major stir in the market with its low prices. The airline’s official Japanese website has also revealedthat starting at 10:00 on February 18, it will officially open sales for summer flight fares from March 30 to October 25 for the Japanese market,but the actual prices remain under wraps for now.

As for whether the newly launched summer fares in Japan will also affect ticket prices for flights from Taiwan to Japan, and whether there will be a new round of promotional offers, Gong Jia-yao, head of Vanilla Air’s Taiwan operations, stated that as of 18:00 on February 17, they had not yet received any notification from the airline’s headquarters in Japan. Therefore, for the time being, Taiwan will continue to follow the current fare structure.
