New regulations for flying with Korean airlines in 2014！South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport recently announced that to facilitate travel for both domestic and international passengers, certain lower-risk items have been removed from the prohibited list this year, while restrictions on higher-risk items have been tightened.

Starting January 1st, everyday items previously restricted from being carried on board — such as nail clippers, umbrellas with long handles, and bottle openers — are now permitted in carry-on luggage for this year. However, hazardous items such as spears, swords, guns (including all types of firearms, such as electric and toy guns), sports equipment, and tools are not allowed on board but may be checked in as baggage. Explosive or flammable items, as well as toxic substances, remain completely prohibited, both in carry-on and checked luggage. Additionally, liquid items under 100ml, if placed in a transparent 1L resealable plastic bag, are allowed in carry-on luggage.
