The Nantou Motor Vehicle Office takes the lead in combating drunk driving at the Taiwan Lantern Festival site?!

The 2014 Taiwan Lantern Festival was held this year at the Zhongxing New Village in Nantou with great fanfare. The Nantou Motor Vehicle Office utilized high-tech "3D drunk driving simulation glasses" from abroad to launch a drunk driving simulation experience during the festival. This allowed attendees to enjoy the lantern displays while also experiencing the disorienting sensation of walking under the influence, all while promoting the message: "Don't drink and drive, and don’t drive after drinking."

From 4 PM to 6 PM on February 19th, the Nantou Motor Vehicle Office set up a booth in front of Guangrong Elementary School in the South Lantern Area, where participants could wear drunk driving simulation glasses to experience the visual impairment caused by alcohol, and then walk along a path filled with obstacles. This gave more people a chance to feel the dangers of impaired vision and lack of focus after drinking, serving as a warning against drunk driving that could ruin lives.

Huang Yung-song, deputy director of the Nantou Motor Vehicle Office, said that the Taiwan Lantern Festival is a major tourism event for Nantou. This year, they took advantage of the large crowds at the Nantou Lantern Festival to let more people experience the dangers of drunk driving. In the future, they hope to set up similar simulation environments at motor vehicle offices to educate the public about the risks of drunk driving.
