Tigerair Taiwan launches new route! Flights to Asahikawa, Hokkaido from March 27 next year; special offers go on sale December 15

Following its earlier announcement of launching flights to Komatsu as its 10th Japanese destination on January 18 next year, Tigerair Taiwan has now announced that it will launch its 11th Japanese destination — Asahikawa, Hokkaido — on March 27 next year, making it the airline’s northernmost route in Japan. The route will initially operate twice weekly, allowing passengers to combine it with Tigerair Taiwan’s existing flights to Hakodate to explore all of Hokkaido.

Located in the heart of Hokkaido, Japan, Asahikawa is the second-largest city in the prefecture after Sapporo. In addition to the majestic Daisetsuzan mountain range, Asahikawa is also famous for Asahiyama Zoo and Asahikawa ramen, attracting many domestic and international tourists.

Thanks to its strategic location, travelers can easily visit areas such as Biei Town and Furano, or head further north to places like Shintoku, Nayoro, and Wakkanai. Once the Taoyuan–Asahikawa route launches on March 27 next year, it will become Tigerair Taiwan’s northernmost Japanese route. Additionally, passengers can combine Asahikawa with Tigerair Taiwan’s existing Hakodate flights to create flexible itineraries and fully experience Hokkaido.

Tigerair Taiwan stated that during the initial phase of the Taoyuan–Asahikawa route, flights will operate twice weekly — on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The outbound flight (IT238) will depart from Taoyuan Airport at 06:15 AM, while the return flight (IT239) will depart from Asahikawa Airport at 12:10 PM.

To celebrate the launch, Tigerair Taiwan will offer special promotional fares starting from NT$2,299 (excluding tax) for one-way tickets from 10:00 AM on December 15, 2017, to 11:59 PM on December 16, 2017. Travel dates are from March 27, 2018 (next year), to October 27, 2018. The number of discounted tickets is limited, so act fast. Interested travelers are advised to prepare passport details (valid for more than six months) and a credit card to facilitate the booking process.

Currently, Tigerair Taiwan operates flights to nine destinations in Japan: Hakodate, Sendai, Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka Kansai, Okayama, Fukuoka, and Okinawa. After launching flights to Komatsu on January 18 next year and Asahikawa on March 27 next year, the total number of Japanese destinations will reach 11. Passengers can depart from either Taoyuan or Kaohsiung airports. The total number of routes between Taiwan and Japan operated by Tigerair Taiwan will increase to 15.
