Last year, Taiwan visitors to Hong Kong totaled about 2.1 million, including 221,000 from Taichung — a 2.7% increase. Among them, the number of overnight visitors from Taichung rose by as much as 14%, while those traveling for vacation purposes saw an even bigger jump of 21.7%. This shows that Hong Kong remains one of the top travel destinations for people in Taichung.Victoria Hsu, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Taiwan Officesaid that there are up to 56 flights per week from Taichung to Hong Kong, making it very convenient. Especially this year, with six consecutive holidays, now is the best time to visit Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to collaborate with Star Cruises, using the line’s largest ship in Asia — the SuperStar Virgo — which will be based in Hong Kong, to launch a six-month series of cruises from Taiwan. The special feature is that for any cruises passing through Taiwan, Taiwanese passengers can board directly from Taiwan, then connect back by plane. With a “one-way cruise, one-way flight” option, travelers can enjoy a cruise experience while also savoring Hong Kong.

Targeting travelers from central Taiwan, Star Cruises has launched a new 3-day, 2-night cruise package that’s under NT$10,000.Starting at NT$9,900, the package includes one night on the SuperStar Virgo, one night in a Hong Kong hotel, and a one-way return flight from Hong Kong to Taichung.The itinerary can also be extended to 4 days and 3 nights, staying two nights in Hong Kong, starting at NT$11,900.
