Taoyuan Eastar Mountain Forest Resort Hotel’s refined Hakka cuisine earns recognition

Taoyuan’s Yangmei Eastar Mountain Forest Resort Hotel has been recognized for its exquisite Hakka cuisine, earning the first-ever Hakka Cuisine Quality Restaurant Certification. It is the only hotel in Yangmei City to receive this award and is also the only certified establishment among the winners that offers an eco-landscape setting, premium leisure tourism services, and hot spring facilities.

Taoyuan County has the highest number of Hakka residents in the country and is also known as the Gateway to Taiwan. To promote authentic Hakka restaurants in the region, the county government launched a three-year initiative called “The Happy Taste of Hakka Villages – Taoyuan County Hakka Cuisine Quality Restaurant Certification.” The first edition saw 24 establishments recognized for their authentic Hakka flavors and innovative spirit. Mr. Jiang, General Manager of Eastar Mountain Resort Hotel, stated that presenting the traditional flavors of Hakka cuisine requires not only mountain and seafood delicacies but also a focus on healthy cooking with less oil and salt. The hotel’s fragrant Chinese restaurant serves refined Hakka cuisine with dozens of delicious dishes: preserved plum pork belly, Hakka salted egg king oyster mushrooms, long beans with eggplant, crispy pork knuckle, Hakka rice noodles, and more in this delightful Hakka feast.

Emphasizing less oil and salt and prioritizing food hygiene and safety, the hotel demonstrates a leading commitment to promoting local Hakka culture with unwavering dedication. After dining, guests can stroll along the Eastar Mountain Happy Peach Blossom Spring Eco Trail. February and March mark the blooming season of Taiwan cherry blossoms (Prunus campanulata), which differ from the common pink varieties — the park’s Taiwan cherries display single-petal pale pinkish-white blooms, offering a uniquely charming sight. This is followed by the blooming of tung blossoms in April and May, with the mountain’s tung blossom trail being a must-visit scenic highlight in the hillside city.
