Male-friendly perk? VietJet Air, which once hosted an "in-flight bikini show," is entering the Taiwanese market

Remember the news about VietJet Air (越捷航空) hosting a bikini performance on a plane that gave many passengers a "pleasant surprise"? This low-cost carrier, which has delighted many male travelers, is finally coming to Taiwan！

On VietJet’s (越捷航空) official website, Taipei is now listed as a destination option, though no flight details are available yet. It is understood that flights may begin in April, with the inaugural route being Taipei–Ho Chi Minh City, and ticket bookings opening next month.

Regarding VietJet's entry into the Taiwanese market, Wang Mufan, Assistant General Manager of Vietnam Airlines, stated that there were previous reports of a April launch. However, Taoyuan Airport recently announced it will close Runway 05R/23L for repairs, resulting in single-runway operations during that period and increased flight congestion. VietJet's launch may be postponed to after June.

While low-fare low-cost carriers may impact traditional airline business, Wang Mufan believes traditional airlines still hold advantages in flight schedules and service quality, and should be able to differentiate their markets. Moreover, most Vietnamese brides in Taiwan currently come from the southern six provinces, which are still some distance from Ho Chi Minh City, so VietJet won’t completely dominate the market for Vietnamese brides traveling back home.

In August 2012, VietJet Air hosted a bikini show on a plane where several models danced to the music, resulting in a fine of 20 million Vietnamese dong (approximately $1,000 USD) from Vietnamese civil aviation authorities.
