Crayon Shin-chan is an anime cartoon that has accompanied many people through their childhood. Recently, aside from releasing the promotional video for the latest movie, Taiwan’s first Crayon Shin-chan themed restaurant also opened on December 13 at the B2 Food Street of San Chung Life Hub. However, the restaurant is only available for a limited time until May 31, 2018, and mainly offers takeaway meals — dine-in is not available. Main dishes include pasta, beef curry rice, and fried chicken meals, while desserts feature cupcakes, ice cream, and adorable Shin-chan-shaped manju.

Compared to most themed restaurants, aside from not offering dine-in, the Crayon Shin-chan themed restaurant also has relatively few character-shaped food items. The main dishes — pasta, beef curry rice, and fried chicken meals — come only with bowls or containers featuring Shin-chan and other characters. The only character-shaped item is three different expressions of Shin-chan manju, available in flavors such as white bean paste with red beans, vanilla gelato, and chocolate. Individual pieces are NT$39, while a set of three costs NT$110. Cupcakes come with macarons featuring designs of Shin-chan and others.

The Crayon Shin-chan themed restaurant was originally an Italian restaurant called Buongiorno Pasta, which isn’t very large. After being transformed into a Crayon Shin-chan themed restaurant, the original dine-in seating area was turned into a photo zone where visitors can take pictures with life-sized cutouts of the Nohara family — including Daddy, Mommy, Shiro, Shin-chan, and Shiro — as well as members of the Kasukabe Defense Force. However, the restaurant states that only those who purchase meals are allowed to enter for photos.

The main menu includes Half-boiled Egg Beef Curry Rice (NT$260), Creamy Bacon Crispy Sausage Pasta (NT$260), Spicy Chicken Pasta (NT$260), Fried Chicken Meal (NT$280), and Cream Clam Chowder (NT$150). For sweets, options are a set of 4 Crayon Shin-chan Cupcakes (NT$320), Crayon Shin-chan Thin Crust Layer Cake (NT$150), Crayon Shin-chan Ice Cream (NT$150), and Crayon Shin-chan Manju (single NT$39, set of 3 NT$110).

There are two drink options: Lemon Black Cherry Fizzy Drink and Hawaiian Fizzy Drink, both served in reusable eco-friendly double-wall cups, priced at NT$280 each.
