Remember the once-viral leaning postbox? A “cute” accident caused by Typhoon Soudelor left it tilted, unexpectedly making it a popular photo spot at the time. Taiwan’s cities and counties have since started incorporating local characteristics to create unique postboxes. For example, the one in front of the Miaoli Post Office under Chunghwa Post has just gotten a stylish makeover Up！

Miaoli preserves traditional Hakka culture, where Hakka fabric, tea picking, and tung blossoms are all local features. Based on the postbox’s original red and green color scheme, the Miaoli Post Office got creative and integrated local elements — the red one now sports a vibrant and eye-catching Hakka fabric cover, while the green one is adorned with white tung blossom petals. The brand-new, attention-grabbing look has passersby stopping to take photos.

In fact, Taiwan has many other unique postboxes, such as the turtle postbox on Little Liuqiu, the orange cat mail carrier postbox in Kaohsiung, and the sword lion-painted postbox in front of the Tainan Post Office. Besides faithfully delivering mail every day, they also offer travelers a chance to snap unique commemorative photos.
