The Calla Lily Festival at Zhuzihhu Lake Kicks Off on March 8: Traffic Control Routes and Bus Information at a Glance

The Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development has planned the 2014 Calla Lily Festival series of events, which will commence on Saturday, March 8. The event is expected to draw large crowds of flower enthusiasts traveling up the mountain, prompting traffic management measures around Zhuzihhu in Yangmingshan from March 8 to April 27 to alleviate congestion.

I. Traffic Control MeasuresDuring the Calla Lily Festival, on weekends (including March 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, April 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27) from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, roads in the Zhuzihhu area will be subject to one-way counter-clockwise traffic control. As the Dinghu section allows only one-way traffic and no U-turns, it is recommended to exit via the newly built flagstone road toward Yangjin Highway. The aforementioned control times are subject to flexible adjustments by local police stations based on traffic conditions. Additionally, Yangde Boulevard will enforce general weekend controls: uphill traffic is restricted from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and downhill traffic from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, applying to private cars and trucks.

II. Bus Transportation ServicesTo accommodate the festival’s traffic controls, the public can use the following shuttle buses to access the mountain. (Flower Season Special Buses 126 and 127 operate only on weekends during the flower and Calla Lily seasons, leisure buses 109, 111, 128, and 129 run on weekends, while other buses operate daily.)

(1) Direct Access to Zhuzihhu: Commuters can take Leisure Bus 128 and Route Xia (小) 8 from Shiban MRT Station, or Leisure Bus 129 and Route Xia 9 (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Beitou to Zhuzihhu Line) from Beitou MRT Station to reach Zhuzihhu.

(2) Transfer Buses from Various Districts to Zhuzihhu: From Taipei Main Station, take Bus 260 (including branch lines and Flower Clock Line), from Jiantan MRT Station take Bus 260 (including branch lines and Flower Clock Line), Red 5, Leisure Bus 109, 111, or Flower Season Special Buses 126 and 127. From Beitou MRT Station, take Bus 230 to Yangmingshan Station, then transfer to Buses 128, 129, Xia 8, Xia 9, or 131 to reach Zhuzihhu.

III. Parking and Transfer OptionsIt is recommended that visitors park their vehicles at the following locations.

(1) Bai Ling High School Underground Parking Lot:Transfer at Jiantan MRT Station to Buses 111, 126, or 127 to Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot, then transfer to Buses 128, 129, Xia 8, Xia 9, or 131 to Zhuzihhu. Alternatively, take Buses 260 (including branch and Flower Clock Line) or Red 5 to Yangmingshan Station, then transfer to Flower Season Special Buses 128, 129, Xia 8, Xia 9, or 131 (Buses 128 and 129 are extended to Zhuzihhu only during the Calla Lily Festival).

(2) Fulin Park Underground Parking Lot:Take Buses 109, 111, 126, or 127 from Fulin Elementary School to Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot, then transfer to Flower Season Special Buses Xia 8, Xia 9, 128, 129, or 131. Alternatively, take Buses 260 (including branch and Flower Clock Line) or Red 5 to Yangmingshan Station, then transfer to Flower Season Special Buses 128, 129, Xia 8, Xia 9, or 131 (Buses 128 and 129 are extended to Zhuzihhu only during the Calla Lily Festival). To encourage public transit use, the Taipei City Parking Management Office offers the first three hours of free parking on the day of transfer for those using this lot to commute up the mountain.

(3) Taipei Veterans General Hospital Multi-Level Parking Lot:Take Buses 128 or Xia 8 directly to Zhuzihhu.
