100,000 lavender plants in bloom — Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village creates a "Purple Valentine's Day"

As one flower season after another unfolds across Taiwan, while the cherry blossom season draws to a close, it’s just the right time for the lavender blooms at Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. With over 100,000 vibrant purple lavender plants in full flower, the vast sea of purple creates an incredibly romantic scene. The village has specially designated March 9 as “Purple Valentine’s Day.” Couples dressed in purple outfits who come to the park to “show some love” will receive a commemorative gift.

The park authorities stated that the annual “Purple Love Lavender” event in March follows the Cherry Blossom Festival. The Shuishalian European-style garden in the park is covered in a sea of purple blooms, including purple lavender, featherleaf lavender, and pink salvia, all in full bloom. Meanwhile, the park’s cherry blossoms are coming to an end. Visitors can enjoy the double beauty of falling cherry petals and the blooming lavender.

In line with the lavender season, the park has designated the second Sunday of every March as “Purple Valentine’s Day.” This year on the 9th, couples dressed in purple lover-themed outfits who participate in the “Purple Love Flash Day” event and share a kiss at 3:09 pm for 60 seconds will receive a small Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village lavender-themed souvenir.

The park also reminded visitors that during the lavender season, the Purple Love March Music Concerts will also be held. On the 9th, the Taiwan Silk & Bamboo Orchestra will perform; on the 16th, the Taiwan Ocarina Orchestra will hold a concert; and on the 23rd, 29th, and April 6th, performances will also be given by the OPO Vocal Choir, Xinyue Chamber Music Ensemble, and Pegasus Creative String Quartet in succession.
