The weekend is the favorite time for office workers!XD Besides planning trips, what I love the most is finding places to enjoy food, space, and all those fresh experiences; MUJUE is famously renowned in Taichung’s brunch scene~In my opinion, it’s like a luxury brand in the brunch world, where every outlet, from the exterior to the food, boasts an extremely high standard and attention to detail.
So the space is comfortable, and the food prices are a bit higher than others. Before I even put in the effort to write this post, I had already visited both the first and second branches, but not this third one. I hadn’t come when it was popular, nor when many other brunch spots were emerging, but I never thought about skipping it. Because MUJUE’s quality in Taichung is truly impeccable! So I just waited until I had no set plans or destinations in mind, and then slowly came to enjoy it.

From the first and second branches, my impression of MUJUE has always been that the space is lovable, offering a modest and unpretentious vibe, very much like a minimalist Japanese style with a Muji feel. Every chair, cabinet, clock on the wall, concrete flooring, and even the row of seats at the bar makes you feel that such simplicity is exactly what you want.

On the weekend after the Lunar New Year holiday, the “Prosperity in Bloom” decoration at the entrance added a touch of low-key yet simple Chinese New Year charm that didn’t clash with the overall ambiance at all!The courtyard at the entrance is huge—I felt it was almost as large as the indoor space. Leaving such a large open area is something neither the first nor the second branch has. Since the third branch is located in the excellent Jingming business district, and here there’s a large section that used to be a standalone U.S. military building—this place is one of them.

Walking on the bricks in the vast courtyard, I looked up and noticed that the surrounding tall buildings didn’t block the sunlight, because there’s a large expanse of space here, mostly just single-story or two- to three-story buildings. This is also the kind of old-style architecture I’d dream of owning if I were rich (in my dreams)XD

The trees in the courtyard are about two stories high, their treetops revealing the second-floor balcony to me. Apparently someone was up there—this must be a photographer’s habit, trying to find different angles and capture things in ways no one else has. It might not necessarily turn out great, but there’s always the urge to try.

MUJUE’s third branch has even more indoor seating! It’s really bigger than the first and second branches. The second floor especially features large shared tables, encouraging people to dine together or share a table—this reminded me of the dining atmosphere among foreigners, the kind where everyone feels like family! So if you’re with a big family, this place is really quite suitable.

We sat down at a two-person table. We didn’t have to wait long to get a seat!I heard that for restaurants, the month after the Lunar New Year is the off-season, probably because everyone has already played and spent enough during the holidays XD. Because of that, we didn’t need a reservation this day and didn’t wait long, but I must tell everyone—it’s generally safer to make a reservation.

Once you see the prices, you’ll know that MUJUE is on the pricier side of the brunch scene! But the texture and portion sizes of the food are definitely worth the splurge.

This one is a 185 NT handcrafted natural yeast breakfast. You can choose your bread. I picked: classic crispy toast—super delicious! It’s baked to perfection, the crust is delightfully crispy without being dry, and the scrambled eggs contain mushrooms. The portion is generous, and the aroma from the mushrooms paired with the eggs is just lovely. The salad is also a MUJUE classic—served like it was just freshly chopped for you!

A small cup of soy milk comes with the meal, and you can choose your preferred drink afterward. This set also includes my favorite German sausage—definitely not your ordinary hot dog XD!

I also mixed it up a bit since I don’t eat blueberry jam, so I paired the egg salad with the toast instead.

Another set, which is even pricier: smoked chicken leg French bread breakfast. This one filled me up completely~I’d recommend it for guys, because that French bread is even bigger than what I had at the first and second branches!!Remember, the menus at all three branches are different, each with their own specialties. Just look at the proportion of that smoked chicken leg French bread compared to the plate, and you’ll know it’s not to be underestimated.

The smoked chicken leg tastes great, but if you’re not a meat lover, you might get tired of it after half a portion!Because it’s not just a thin layer of smoked chicken leg—the thickness rivals that of the bread itself! And then there’s also the German sausage.

For dessert, I chose iced black tea and iced fresh milk tea. The black tea base is fragrant, leaving a lingering aftertaste that stays with you. The fresh milk tea base is probably made from the same tea—it’s just that MUJUE has successfully won me over with a big thumbs-up!All three branches maintain top-notch standards~

At this time, it was the day after the solar term “Rain Water”! Outside in Taichung, the sky turned a brilliant blue with bright sunshine. Although the temperature was still cold, the sunlit window made the upcoming holiday feel extra promising.

How do you like to spend your holidays? If it’s a short one, a breakfast meal is definitely a great choice.
