News Flash / Taoyuan Airport Tightens Security Checks; Travelers Advised to Arrive 2.5 Hours Early for International Flights

Travelers who are used to rushing to the airport at the last minute should take note！ According to Taoyuan International Airport, in order to ensure flight safety, the airport will strengthen security screening and document checks for passengers, which will also increase the overall time required for security procedures.The previous requirement of arriving two hours early for international flights may now be extended to over 2.5 hours.Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport earlier to complete check-in procedures and to cooperate patiently with all security and clearance processes.

In terms of aviation security, the Aviation Police Bureau under the National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, is stepping up security screenings for flights bound for mainland China,especially those to Beijing,by enhancing checked baggage inspections, increasing secondary inspection rates, and strictly implementing cabin clearance procedures.

Aviation police will also intensify checks on people and vehicles, as well as items entering and exiting various control points. Special task forces will be deployed to increase patrols within the terminal, verify the identities and travel documents of suspicious passengers, and work in conjunction with the airport’s full CCTV surveillance system and 24-hour security personnel to heighten alertness, strengthen monitoring of suspicious individuals, and improve reporting mechanisms.

Regarding document checks, the National Immigration Agency under the Ministry of the Interior has connected to the U.S. anti-terrorism database. Suspected individuals will face heightened security measures and stricter controls, and will be denied entry until their identities are clarified. Airlines will also enhance cooperation with the Immigration Agency, and will not issue boarding passes to suspicious individuals until they have been confirmed by the agency. Document inspection personnel have recently undergone enhanced training in identifying various levels of identification documents to improve their ability to detect forged or altered documents, ensuring thorough implementation of all identity verification procedures.
