Following the previous faux-literary-style red bean pancake pop-up, Taipei W Hotel has once again brought a well-known Taiwanese snack to the kitchen table Western restaurant. The owner of Ding Ding Rice Balls, driven by her love for traditional rice balls and the desire for more people to enjoy healthy local ingredients, opened her first store in Taichung's Xitun District in late 2016. From the essential ingredients like glutinous rice, pickled radish, and organic eggs to the stall design and decor, everything is presented in the simplest and most genuine style for customers.

The menu items at Ding Ding Rice Balls also have fun names. The "Ronin" with pickled radish original uses the most basic ingredients, perfect for a quick take-away; the "Princess" includes tender tamagoyaki, resembling the delicacy of a young lady; the "General" is a high-ranking yet refined seaweed vegetarian rice ball; and the "Samurai" requires great strength, best paired with pork belly.
