Cold wave alert issued as temperatures plunge at night — lows to dip to 10°C on the 13th

Good weather will last only two days before turning chilly again. According to the Central Weather Bureau, the latest frontal system is approaching,After nightfall on the 12th, heavy rain is expected in northern and eastern regions, especially from late night through the early morning of the 13th, when significant rainfall may occur in areas north of central Taiwan. Starting from the evening of the 13th, low temperatures around 10°C will hit the north as well as Kinmen and Matsu. Travelers are advised to dress warmly.

The bureau said that from the evening of the 12th to the 13th, there is a high chance of localized heavy rain in the Keelung northern coast and northern regions. The public should watch out not only for sudden downpours but also lightning strikes. From the evening of the 13th to the 15th, people must be wary of the cold, as parts of the Keelung northern coast, Miaoli northward, Kinmen, and the coastal and open areas of Matsu could see temperatures dropping to around 10°C.

The bureau reminds the public that during cold spells, when using gas water heaters, proper indoor ventilation is essential. Do not seal windows and doors tightly to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
