When it comes to Belgian beer, many people have probably heard of it, tried it, or even fallen in love with it. Hidden away in Xizhi, Taiwan, is a factory that brews Belgian beer on-site. In February this year, they opened a high-end, refined, and cozy gastropub right next to Taipei Arena, completely transforming the stereotypical American rough-and-ready image of beer-centric restaurants!

“La Tour Brewery Restaurant” is located on Section 4, Nanjing East Road, Songshan District, Taipei City. It’s about a 3-minute walk from Taipei Arena MRT Station, making it fairly convenient to get to. The menu offers a wide variety — including cold appetizers, hot appetizers, pasta, risotto, meat dishes, and desserts — making it suitable for sharing small plates among a group or enjoying a single main dish.

Some dishes even incorporate beer into the cooking, resulting in refined and delicious flavors. But you definitely can’t miss their self-brewed Belgian beers here — currently there are four varieties, each with its own unique character. They also offer beer-based cocktails, and more varieties of mixed drinks will be introduced in the future, which is something to look forward to!

%The gastropub is not located in the bustling Xinyi District of Taipei but rather tucked away in the quieter Shilin area, near Zhishan and the zoo. It’s only a 3-minute walk from the Zoo-Exit of Taipei Arena MRT Station. For those who prefer a drink, taking the MRT might be more convenient!

%The entrance features an eye-catching neon sign, and the storefront also displays menus and business cards for interested visitors to check out.

%Once inside, you’ll see the walls adorned with murals depicting the brewing process of Belgian beer — all freshly brewed on-site and delivered directly to the restaurant. This ensures you’re always enjoying the freshest and smoothest Belgian beer here!

%The space is quite large, featuring a bar counter where you can watch the bartenders expertly pour your drinks. It gives off a very stylish vibe.

%The location is quite convenient if you’re out shopping in the area or heading to the zoo. It’s not just a great spot for beer lovers, but also for those who want to enjoy a nice meal. There’s also a kids’ menu, so it’s family-friendly too.

%The rustic decor of the bar area gives off a very authentic European brewery feel, which makes the whole experience even more immersive.

%Currently, they only serve draft Belgian beer here, ensuring that every pint is as fresh and smooth as can be!

%The interior design features local Taiwanese elements mixed with rustic industrial aesthetics. There are also some artistic design touches that give the space a unique charm.

%In addition, the bar stools and tables are all custom-made, adding to the overall refined atmosphere.

%The dining area has already been updated with a new menu, which also has a rather premium feel to it!

%The new menu continues the deep blue color scheme, paired with a unique logo that looks both distinctive and elegant.

%Once you step inside, you’ll find a wide selection of craft beers to choose from, along with classic and special brews. They also offer a variety of snacks, and we recommend trying their Craft Beer Flight — allowing you to sample four different Belgian beers at once~ After tasting, you can order more based on your personal preference!

%They also offer coffee, tea, soft drinks, and more, so it’s perfect for friends who don’t drink alcohol to choose from as well.

%The menu includes options suitable for kids, teens, adults, meat lovers, seafood fans, and vegetarians — there are plenty of choices whether you’re in a big group or just a few people ordering mains.

%The Beer Set “Malt Quartet” (NT$350) is their craft beer flight. From right to left, the beers are “Your Remedy,” “Passerby,” “Noble One,” and “My Beer.” The different colored logos on the glasses represent the various flavors, making it easy to tell them apart.

● ETtoday News Cloud reminds you: Don’t drink and drive. Don’t drive after drinking.

%“Your Remedy” is one of our favorite brews. It has a lovely golden hue, a refreshing taste, and is not overly bitter. It’s very easy to drink. “Passerby” has an orange hue reminiscent of a summer sunset, with a slightly sweet and smooth flavor, a hint of honey aroma, and not too much bitterness — a very refreshing beer. “Noble One” has an amber tone, with tasting notes of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of coffee, along with a subtle roasted sweetness and bitterness — offering a more mature, adult flavor. “My Beer” is the strongest in alcohol content among the four, with a golden-yellow color, floral and fruity notes, a rich taste, and a pleasant mix of slight bitterness and lingering sweetness that leaves a memorable aftertaste.

%Coming here to enjoy freshly brewed beer while chatting with good friends is a must — raise your glasses for a toast, XD!

%Another highlight is their Fried Chicken Set (NT$350), where crispy golden fried chicken is sprinkled with parsley, served with a specially made spicy mayo, and plated on newspaper-style parchment paper — a fun touch!

%There are also other side dishes and snacks available that you can pair with your beer as you like.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

%But if you’re having the fried chicken, you definitely have to try it with the spicy mayo for an even more flavorful experience!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

%We ordered the set and were very satisfied with the freshness of the ingredients, the crispy texture of the chicken, and the well-balanced seasoning. The spiciness of the mayo also complements the richness of the chicken nicely.

%If you’re looking for a place to enjoy fresh beer, delicious food, and catch up with good friends, why not give it a try?
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% This dish (braised mussels with homemade beer broth at 480 NT), which DaKou also considers a must-order, not only uses their own brewed beer to simmer the mussel base, but even the bread is beer bread~ how cool is that!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The abalone here is grilled to perfection and paired with a special sauce that includes black truffle, sea urchin, and caviar. It’s not just visually stunning but also incredibly flavorful.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The bread (served with the mussel dish) can actually be dipped into the broth, allowing you to enjoy the tender mussel meat, along with a slightly chewy texture and a hint of wine aroma — just chewing it slowly in your mouth is utterly delightful~
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The salt-baked abalone might look a bit plain, but once you try a piece, you’ll find the umami taste concentrated within — simply irresistible!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The mussels are sweet and delicious, bursting with freshness. Paired with a lightly sweet and subtly wine-flavored sauce, it enhances the overall taste even more~ The umami of the mussels is further concentrated into the sauce, making it rich and savory — a bite and you’ll fall in love!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The mussel dish can also be enjoyed with the vegetables on the side. Not only is it more moist and tasty, but you also get the rich umami of the mussels combined with the sweetness of the vegetables — an absolutely perfect pairing!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The grilled octopus with red pepper sauce at 380 NT also amazed us as soon as it was served. Not only is the plating beautiful, but the ingredients are equally impressive, and the specially made red pepper sauce adds the perfect finishing touch!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The octopus not only has a lovely smoky aroma, but also features tender squid, mushrooms, and leeks. Visually, it resembles a flower basket, making it both pretty and appetizing.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The grilled octopus is sweet and delicious. The grilling method helps lock in the umami of the octopus, and pairing it with the slightly sweet red pepper sauce further highlights its flavor. Or, you could also pair it with the slightly salty Iberico ham — adding more diverse textures!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% We were most impressed by the seared scallops here. The golden crust on the scallops (at 380 NT) isn’t just for show; the scallops beneath are soft, juicy, and full of umami — truly top-quality scallops.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The hand-rolled pork belly with walnut puree and berry jam at 380 NT is also a labor-intensive handmade dish. The chef specially uses pork cheek skin to wrap minced pork and cheek meat, rolls it into a cylinder, then slices it into pieces and pan-fries them. It’s paired with a rather unique sauce combo of walnut purée and berry jam!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The dish looks simple, but it’s surprisingly rich in layers. Whether you’re a foodie or someone who just enjoys good food, you’ll find it very satisfying.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The green salad, pickled vegetables, and fruit platter (on the side) are also key highlights of the meal.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The presentation is very refined, and the flavors are well-balanced without being overly complicated.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The mussels here are grilled to retain their juiciness, and you can still see the little orange pearls inside. This cooking style allows you to fully enjoy the umami of the mussels.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The combination of grilled mussels, vegetables, and pork belly also offers a rich variety of textures that many will love!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The seafood platter with charcoal-grilled seafood at 480 NT includes various options like prawns, scallops, squid, and tuna — it’s basically a seafood market, no doubt about it XDD
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo / DaKou)

% The sea urchin is sourced using sustainable methods. Between August and around that time, since they are hard to keep alive after being caught, being able to enjoy them outside of Yilan is really something special!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The dish is plated with an artistic touch and has a refreshing taste. Paired with green pea and mustard mash, it doesn’t overpower the flavors but blends harmoniously into a refreshing and clean taste in the mouth.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% Sea urchins are delicate and require careful handling to cook properly. They should be eaten while fresh. The sea urchin meat is tender and sweet, and grilling enhances its umami — just eating it on its own is already a treat!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The grilled prawns and scallops also come with tender pork belly. The prawns have firm and springy meat, sweet and fragrant with a slight saltiness — delicious on their own. The scallops are exceptional, with a slightly crispy exterior locking in their umami. Once you take a bite, the ocean flavor bursts forth — sweet, rich, and absolutely lovely!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The confit duck leg with seasonal vegetables at 680 NT is a classic French dish. It originates from a traditional food preservation method. Before confiting, the duck legs are coated with salt, garlic, spices, and herbs, then covered and refrigerated for dozens of hours~ It’s quite a labor-intensive dish!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The grilled vegetables are cooked to perfection and seasoned just right, complementing the tender duck meat very well.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% You can really feel the depth of flavor from the slow-cooked duck. It takes you on a nostalgic trip back to your grandmother’s kitchen.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The duck leg is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The spices enhance the texture of the meat, and when paired with the soft and sweet leg meat, it’s simply divine. The aromatic spices subtly mask the distinct smell of duck, releasing layers of savory and delicious flavors in the mouth — absolutely heavenly!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The seasonal vegetables are also excellent. When paired with the meat, they not only balance the richness but also bring out extra flavor.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The meat is tender and flavorful, with a good sear on the outside.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% This cocktail is a fun twist~ it’s a modified version of a Mai Tai, using rum infused with osmanthus as the base, paired with pineapple, lemon juice, as well as spices like star anise and cardamom. Finally, it’s garnished with plum powder before serving. It’s not only slightly sour, sweet, and refreshing with a strong summer vibe, but the finish leaves a subtle aromatic spice and the unique sweet-sour taste of plum powder — a wonderful fusion of Eastern and Western flavors, light and smooth!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% This Earl Grey gin cocktail with citrus also leaves a deep impression. It’s mainly based on Earl Grey tea, with gin as the base. Orange slices are topped with roasted Earl Grey tea leaves — you can smell the rich aroma of roasted Earl Grey even before taking a sip. It tastes sweet with a delicate fragrance, and a slight sweet-sourness. The tea, alcohol, and fruit flavors burst in layers in your mouth, creating a wonderfully diverse taste experience!

% The roast duck salad with foie gras (at 380 NT) may look like a fusion of Eastern and Western styles, but it has a surprisingly harmonious and delicious taste.

% The cheeks used here are tender and flavorful, not only juicy but also rich in texture. The pork collar is soft yet firm, and when paired with the sauce, it’s salty-sweet with a delightful aftertaste that makes you fall in love at first bite!

% The pork collar is simmered in their house-brewed “My Beer,” resulting in a tender, bouncy texture with a hint of beer aroma. The flavor is a perfect balance of salty and sweet, adding a wonderful finishing touch!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% Speaking of desserts, they don’t cut corners either. Not only are they time-consuming and labor-intensive to make, but the presentation is also exquisite and beautiful, rivaling any dessert shop outside!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The desserts include a molten chocolate cake, tiramisu, panna cotta, and cheesecake, all paired with different beers. Each combination creates a unique contrast of flavors—the richness of the cake, the creaminess of the dessert, the bitterness of the beer, and the sweetness of the chocolate all harmonize beautifully, leaving a deep impression.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The braised pork belly is not only rich in flavor with a tender and juicy texture, but the pickled pear adds a refreshing and crisp note. Paired with yogurt ice cream, it’s cool, smooth, sweet, and cuts through the richness. The overall taste is layered and diverse!
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The beef cheek burger (NT$180) looks just as exquisite and beautiful, with careful attention to both plating and the choice of plateware. The oval-shaped ice cream on the side is made from their own brewed white beer, offering a smooth, refreshing taste with a hint of beer aroma that pairs wonderfully with the chocolate and cuts through the richness.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The tart’s crust is flaky and buttery, providing a crispy contrast to the soft and creamy filling inside, creating a light and refreshing mouthfeel.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The flavor of the ice cream is crafted using the “Royal Wedding March” beer from their brewery, resulting in a rich, creamy taste that’s not overly sweet.
Château Latour Restaurant (Photo by DaKou)

% The ice cream has a layered texture, with a crunchy cookie base, a creamy middle layer, and a light and airy mousse on top. The contrast between the different textures and flavors creates a perfectly balanced dessert experience!

“La Tour Brewery Restaurant” not only has a stylish and comfortable environment, but the spacious dining area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a drink. The dishes combine French and Italian concepts, with their homemade Belgian beer thoughtfully integrated into the recipes, offering unique flavors and a rich, layered taste experience.

The dishes we tried that day were all excellent, and even the desserts were impressive, each one crafted with care and attention. They have a subtle yet refined essence, are visually appealing, delicious, and occasionally offer little surprises. This place is perfect for gatherings with friends, family meals, or colleague outings. Whether it’s an after-work drink or a casual chat, it’s a great spot.
