Gathering 13 princesses from around the world！ Hong Kong Disneyland unveils new castle concept

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (“Hong Kong Disneyland”) has launched a brand-new expansion plan for the park this year. In addition to new themed lands, Hong Kong Disneyland has also unveiled the creative concept of one of the new phase expansion projects — the castle. The transformed castle will incorporate stories inspired by Disney Princesses from different eras and cultural styles, while paying tribute to the Disney Princesses. Paired with brand-new daytime and nighttime spectacular shows, it will deliver a fresh entertainment experience.

The design of the new castle draws inspiration from various eras and cultures, as well as the backgrounds and styles of different fairy tales. It is also inspired by the stories of 13 beloved Disney Princesses, including Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Aurora, and Anna and Elsa. Joe Rohde, Creative Development Director of Walt Disney Imagineering (Asia), said: “The transformed castle will showcase different fairy tales through themed spires, domes, and other architectural elements. We use different colors, materials, designs, and patterns to express the idea that the castle focuses on the present while looking toward the future.”

In the future, guests viewing from the castle plaza and moat will notice that some spire tops are adorned with themes from different princess stories, including Snow White’s apple, Cinderella’s carriage, and Belle’s rose. Signature designs and decorations inspired by the princesses’ stories will also be spread throughout the castle. During the 2018–2023 new phase expansion plan, Hong Kong Disneyland’s existing “Ignite the Dream” fireworks show will bid farewell perfectly on January 1, 2018, followed by the magnificent transformation of the castle.
