Amid the tranquil alleys of Dazhi, where a steady stream of visitors flows, Muler Café quietly stands, steadfastly guarding everyone’s dreams. Owner Aarti offers a humble stage where dreamers begin to turn their aspirations into reality. Patrons, immersed in the lingering notes of coffee, can feel the power of those dreams. This is where music and dreams begin.
Originally working in theater, Aarti serendipitously took up a job at a café after leaving her previous career, fell in love with the intimate human connection it offered, and eventually opened her own place. The nameMuler Café was inspired by the work of German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch.Aarti was deeply moved by the dance piece Muler Café, saying, “The performance style of Muler Café is very ‘theatrical.’ To me, a café is the same — it’s a space for people to do things, and also a stage for everyone.”

Aarti has his own standards when it comes to selecting ingredients. With a long-term focus on social issues and a strict demand for quality, the café’s coffee beans come from fair trade supplier Eco-Green; the milk is sourced from Mainen Ranch, which raises cows on organically grown pasture. Even down to 38% animal-based fresh cream and vanilla syrup made from vanilla pods and cane sugar, Aarti handles everything personally, maintaining strict quality control. “I like things that are pure, and that reflects in the food I serve.”

Americano, latte, cappuccino, and other Italian-style coffees, along with various sandwiches, are the best-selling items. Take a sip of Muler’s coffee, and you’ll find no bitter or harsh aftertaste — just smooth enjoyment. The Americano is rich and sweet, the latte is delicately layered and smooth, and the sandwiches are packed with wholesome ingredients that are sure to satisfy customers’ taste buds.

“Sometimes a café isn’t just about the coffee, but the space.” Muler Café offers more than just coffee and meals — it’s also a venue for art and conversation. Last autumn, it hosted its first“Where Music Begins”event, collaborating with amateur musicians. Muler provided the stage, and the musicians gave back with music, earning high praise from customers. As a result, the second season of performances began earlier this year, with live singing and playing every Friday night at Muler.
The basement space has been specially set up as a rehearsal area for theater troupes needing practice space, and it also hosts irregular cultural events. Combining Aarti’s original passion for performance and love for coffee, coffee, music, and theater coexist harmoniously at Muler Café. Here, take a sip of coffee and savor the sweetness of dreams.
