The most famous spot for watching planes take off and land at Songshan Airport, Lane 180, Binjiang Street, is located right next to the airport runway and is revered by netizens as the “Plane Alley.” With no natural obstructions in the surrounding open space, visitors can clearly see every plane taking off and landing. A plane flies by every few minutes, which is why crowds gather here day and night. However, for safety reasons, the area may be acquired by the government in the future.

2. Songshan Airport Observation Deck
The observation deck on the third floor of the International Terminal at Songshan Airport is the closest public area to the airport’s operational zone and is open for free viewing. The large glass windows not only offer views of planes taking off and landing but also allow you to observe ground crew operations. The surroundings also provide views of Dazhi Bridge and the Miramar Ferris Wheel.

3. Taipei Flora Expo Park
Taipei Flora Expo Park lies along the flight path of planes landing at Songshan Airport, making it a popular spot for plane spotters. The New Park area offers the most intense experience of feeling planes roar overhead. The Art Park also features two glass pyramids—one large and one small—that create fun photo opportunities when framed with planes.

4. Air Force One Café
Air Force One Café, located in a lane off Binjiang Street just 150 meters from the airport runway, attracts many aviation enthusiasts. 5. Jiantan Mountain Observation Platform
The observation platform located halfway up Jiantan Mountain is suitable for those with good stamina. Starting from Jiantan MRT Station, it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the hiking trail to the Laodifang Observation Platform. The site offers a wide view that includes Taipei 101 and the Miramar Ferris Wheel in Dazhi. However, it is farther from the planes, so a telephoto lens is recommended. It is one of the go-to spots for seasoned photography enthusiasts.

6. Third Terminal Café
The Third Terminal Café in Taoyuan is very close to Taoyuan Airport and can be reached just by exiting the interchange. The open-air viewing deck on the second floor offers a close-up view of planes taking off and landing. If you time it right, you can even see an Emirates A380 aircraft and experience the thrill of its landing firsthand.
