Taichung’s Famous Pastry Shops Join the Ice Cream Battle with Taro Flavor

Dajia’s super famous A’Cong Shi Pastry Shop is also joining this wave of the ice cream battle, launching taro ice cream made from Dajia’s specialty taro. As a taro lover, how can you miss it? It’s said to be the first taro-flavored ice cream in Taiwan. I’ve never had taro-flavored ice cream before either—the aroma is purely natural taro, and the color is the actual original shade of taro. At 40 NT per cone, it has a rich taro scent and a smooth yet slightly gritty taro paste texture—very authentic.
Currently, A’Cong Shi only sells taro ice cream at their Miaohou branch.

The shop isn’t very big, and most of the items for sale are pastries.


These blue-and-white slipper-shaped snacks with a strong Taiwanese vibe are so cute—the slipper pastry is really creative.

The packaging box for the slipper pastry is actually an elementary school notebook. So nostalgic.


They sell pastries as well as local gifts like scallion pancakes, taro rolls, and taro crisps.


Taro shaved ice is also one of their specialties. Since Dajia is a taro-producing region, its taro is famous across Taiwan, so the taro shaved ice here is naturally delicious.


The taro shaved ice is also the natural original color of taro, with a smooth and dense texture plus that gritty taro paste feel.


Said to be the first taro-flavored ice cream in Taiwan, you can see the ice cream machine as soon as you walk in.

The staff carefully and meticulously squeeze out the perfect three and a half swirls of taro ice cream.


The pure, natural taro-colored taro ice cream may not have a flashy appearance, but it has a rich, smooth taro aroma and a dense, gritty taro paste texture. It’s sweet, refreshing, and delicious—100% fresh, natural taro flavor. At just 40 NT per cone, it’s affordable and definitely worth recommending to everyone.
