A genuine “presidential suite” — a stay costs NT$40,000 per night!

I often stay in hotels while on business trips, but I’ve never stayed in a “presidential suite.” Those especially high-end, luxurious hotels usually don’t give us much time to enjoy them beyond interviews. We can mostly only admire their luxury with our eyes. This time, when visiting HowTai Resort Kenting, I specially asked the hotel PR to show me the legendary “presidential suite.”

Speaking of this “presidential suite,” once the residence of former President Chiang, what’s emphasized is definitely not just its size or luxury, but the fact that it’s a real space where a head of state actually lived and stayed — a true “presidential suite.” Moreover, the location and room size here remain exactly the same as they were during the time of the former President’s residence.

Taking the elevator to the third floor, the PR led us to a room. The simple room had no number sign on the door. As we opened the door, the first thing that caught our eye was the high, transparent atrium space that let in natural light. The 35-ping (approx. 115 m²) interior includes two bathrooms, a kitchen area, a living room, a double bedroom, and a spacious balcony, offering unobstructed views of Dajian Mountain and the ocean.

The “presidential suite” doesn’t follow a luxurious route at all. Its minimalist and understated style blends with nature. With wooden tones and no excessive decorations, lying in bed, the floor-to-ceiling windows also frame the entire mountain and sea view. Whether soaking in the bath, cooking in the small kitchen, or walking on the balcony, every turn offers natural beauty.

Simple to the extreme — that’s what truly exudes confidence. If there’s anything truly luxurious and not to be missed, it might be lying on this spacious balcony, sipping coffee while gazing at the mountains and sea!
