The “British Lady” Sells Taiwan Railways Meal Boxes – The First-Generation EMU100 Tze-Chiang Limited Express Enters the TRA Dream Factory

The first-generation EMU100 Tze-Chiang Limited Express, long nicknamed the “British Lady,” is making a comeback—but this time not to carry passengers, but to “sell Taiwan Railways meal boxes”! The TRA Dream Factory Songshan Store will open on the 6th at Songshan Station. The store’s exterior features a replica design of the first-generation Tze-Chiang electric multiple unit train, and in addition to meal boxes, it will also recreate the original look of the train from those days, allowing railway enthusiasts to relive the past.

The first-generation EMU100 Tze-Chiang Limited Express, imported from the UK, was affectionately nicknamed the “British Lady” or “British Girl” by railway fans. It traveled almost all over Taiwan and served the TRA for over 30 years before retiring with honor.

Following Taipei Station and Kaohsiung Station, the TRA Dream Factory is now entering Songshan Station. This time, TRA has specially designed the store’s exterior as a 1:1 lifelike replica of the “British Lady,” with its bright and eye-catching yellow and orange color scheme. Inside, in addition to selling TRA meal boxes and souvenirs, it will also recreate the interior of the “British Lady” passenger area—complete with the original twin seats and single business-class seats, as well as tea cup holders, luggage racks, coat hooks, seat number plates, service buttons, and more, all disassembled from the original train and faithfully reproduced at Songshan Station to showcase the elegance of this beautiful “lady” of the past.

To celebrate the “British Lady’s” return to the TRA stage, 1,000 limited-edition opening day postcards will be given away on the 6th, and a commemorative stamp will be available for visitors to mark the occasion.
