Early spring in Penghu, with warm sunlight shining on every corner of the island. Although the northeastern monsoon is still blowing fiercely, a group of female university students from Tainan used their spring break to embark on an in-depth cycling trip around the island. Planned by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration and personally guided by the Director-General of the Penghu Cycling Association, the first group of riders enjoyed a free guided cycling experience, visiting the “most beautiful bay in the world”—the Husi Golden Coast Coastal Bicycle Path.

According to the recommended itinerary by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration, after calculating the tides, the first stop was Beiliao Geological Park. A few female students walked along the Chiyu Tide-Watching Trail, imagining the miracle of Moses parting the sea, while listening to rich and varied introductions about the geological terrain. Then they cycled along the coastal bike path of the Beiliao Wind Power Farm, passing by Longmen Bend, Lintou, Aimen, Shanshui, and Lilixue beaches. Stretching before them were endless white, delicate shell sand beaches, and blue seas and skies blending into a stunning seascape. There were also natural sights such as newly sprouted gaillardia flowers everywhere, which left the girls amazed and unforgettable.

The students said: “This cycling-themed trip, although there were many sections where we had to pedal against the wind, causing sore legs and buttocks, everyone relied on strong perseverance. Thanks to the experienced lead rider who skillfully led the group through sheltered community alleys and dense forests, we were able to conserve our energy to enjoy the scenery. It was an unforgettable and moving journey.”

The free guided cycling service runs from April 1 to October 31. Any cycling group of five or more people can apply for the free guided service on the official website up to seven days before the activity.
