New Highlight for Nighttime Tourism in Kaohsiung: Jinshi Lake Scenic Area to Get a Makeover

The Jinshi Lake Scenic Area is set to undergo a major transformation, with new construction expected to be completed by the end of August. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu said that Jinshi Lake is an ideal spot for exercise, leisure, and religious activities. Once the new construction is finished, the area will take on a completely new look. Its waterfront design will extend and connect with Qingcing Lake and Lotus Pond, establishing Jinshi Lake as a new highlight for nighttime tourism in Kaohsiung.

Chen Chu said that Jinshi Lake has long been a popular destination for local residents to relax and for worshippers to visit. To enhance the overall landscape quality and ensure visitor safety, the city government allocated a budget of NT$20 million and, with the assistance of Kaohsiung-based legislator Lee Kun-tse, secured an additional NT$20 million subsidy from the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, totaling NT$40 million for a large-scale renovation project. In addition to constructing a new Jinshi Lake Bridge, the project will also include the building of wooden boardwalks and the remodeling of management stations and lakeside plazas on both the eastern and western shores, presenting a completely renewed appearance. At night, the area will feature dazzling light displays and a fountain waterfall, making Jinshi Lake a new tourist attraction.

The new Jinshi Lake Bridge, which will be 100 meters long, will feature separate lanes for cyclists and pedestrians. It will use pumped lake water to create a waterfall effect on the water’s surface, accompanied by dynamic lighting at night. The bike path around Jinshi Lake will also be extended to connect with Qingcing Lake and Lotus Pond, forming a “Golden Triangle” of tourism in northern Kaohsiung, allowing visitors to easily explore the area by bicycle.
