After 15 years of effort, Yilan Green Expo joyfully welcomes its five millionth visitor

This year marks the 15th edition of the Yilan Green Expo. Today (16), the expo welcomed its five millionth visitor to date. Yilan County Magistrate Lin Tsong-shyan personally presented prizes worth a total of NT$100,000 to congratulate Mr. Hsu Min-chih from Kaohsiung on becoming the five millionth visitor in the history of the Yilan Green Expo.

The Yilan Green Expo began in 2000, growing from 130,000 visitors in its first edition to 410,000 in 2013. In 2014, the expo saw its five millionth visitor since its inception. In the morning, Mr. Hsu Min-chih from Kaohsiung, along with his wife and one-year-old daughter, visited the expo while on a round-the-island trip. It was their first time attending the Yilan Green Expo. Upon learning that he was the five millionth visitor, Mr. Hsu expressed surprise, saying he never expected to be so lucky.

Yilan County Magistrate Lin Tsong-shyan stated that the goal of the Green Expo is to promote the concept of green ecology through the event. With a rich variety of educational and entertaining activities, it spreads green values such as "quality living," "balanced ecology," "organic production," and "sustainable life," which have gained widespread recognition among the public. Lin said that the Green Expo, held each year in the blossoming spring season, is the perfect time for families to visit together, unwind physically and mentally, immerse themselves in nature’s green environment, and discover new value in the land.
